DevOpsDays Barcelona 2026

Call for Papers

Dear DevOps practitioners, local experts, and community members! We are excited to announce the Call for Papers for DevOpsDays Barcelona 2026.

This community-driven event focuses on the intersection of technology and human collaboration. For this edition, we are preparing an intimate yet impactful gathering with 200 expected attendees and a unique structure to celebrate our diverse community through accepting talks in Catalan, Spanish, and English.

Suggested Topics

We invite proposals that cover a wide range of original material, focusing on both technical and cultural aspects of DevOps. Topics of interest include:

  • Infrastructure & Cloud: Containerization, the Kubernetes ecosystem, and Cloud Platforms.
  • Engineering Practices: CI/CD (Automation & Delivery), System Design, and Software Architecture.
  • Operations & Security: Observability, Reliability, DevSecOps, and Cloud Security.
  • Platform Engineering: Building internal platforms to improve value delivery.
  • The Human Side: Business and Company Culture, Health, Stress, and Burnout.
  • Future of DevOps: Quantifying productivity, risk metrics, and the impact of evolving technologies like AI/ML Ops.

Presentation Formats

We are looking for diverse ways to share knowledge:

  • Full Presentations (30 minutes): 25 minutes of talk + 5 minutes of Q&A. In-depth case studies, strategic approaches, and detailed implementation stories.
  • Ignite Talks (5 minutes): A fast-paced format with 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds. These are perfect for sharing "quick wins" and have a high acceptance rate.
  • Workshops: Interactive, hands-on sessions in a dedicated room for deep-dive learning.
  • Open Spaces: Collaborative sessions where the attendees set the agenda during the event.

Submission Guidelines & Selection Criteria

To increase your chances of selection, please follow these general guidelines:

  • Speaker Limit: We expect a maximum of 2 speakers per talk. Keynotes and long workshops are longer formats and will be considered separately on a case-by-case basis.
  • Authenticity Over Theory: We value real-world experience talks ("We had problem X; we did Y; here is how it turned out, both the good and the bad") over generic or theoretical pitches.
  • No Vendor Pitches: We do not accept talks that are product demonstrations or sales-focused marketing.
  • Local & Diverse Voices: We prioritize local speakers from the Barcelona and Spanish tech communities, as well as underrepresented voices in technology.
  • Originality: We prefer new content that has not been widely presented at other venues or available easily online.
  • Be Specific: Use the abstract and notes sections to clearly explain what attendees will get out of your talk.
  • All Experience Levels Welcome: We welcome speakers of all levels. First-time speakers are especially encouraged to apply — we would be more than happy to help you prepare for the big day.

Notification Policy

We value the effort put into every submission. All applicants will be formally notified of the status of their proposal. You will receive an update if your talk is:

  • Accepted: Your session has been selected for the main program.
  • Waitlisted: Your talk is a strong candidate and may be moved to the schedule if a slot becomes available.
  • Rejected: While we cannot accept all proposals, we will notify you so you can plan accordingly.

Submission Requirements

Proposals must be submitted directly by the speaker (no third-party submissions). Please include:

  • Title: A clear and engaging title.
  • Short Abstract: A one-paragraph "hook" for the program (max 255 characters).
  • Long Abstract: Detailed context, implementation specifics, and key takeaways for the audience.
  • Speaker Bio: Written in the third person (max 1000 characters).

To ensure the integrity of our event, we maintain a strict policy against third-party submissions. Speakers must be directly engaged with both the organisers and the attendees. We will not accept proposals submitted by PR firms or marketing departments.

Code of Conduct

All speakers and presentations must conform to the DevOpsDays Barcelona Code of Conduct. We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

Speaker compensation & accomodation

As a community-driven, organised event, we can't provide compensation or accommodations to speakers.
