DevOpsDays Detroit Call for Proposals - October 22nd, 2025
Community-Driven Event: DevOpsDays Detroit is a community-run event. Please note that we cannot provide travel, sponsorships, or visa assistance.
Call for Proposals: This is your opportunity to contribute to the Detroit DevOps community. We encourage original content, especially from new and local speakers.
Proposal Types
- Ignite Lightning Talk (5 minutes):
- 20 slides, auto-advancing every 15 seconds.
- Presented to the entire conference audience.
- High acceptance rate (75%).
- Learn more about Ignite talks.
- Presentation (20 minutes):
- Talk with optional Q&A.
- Presented in a single track.
General Guidelines
- Conciseness & Detail: Be concise but provide specific and detailed information.
- Notes Section: Use the Notes section to provide comprehensive details about your talk. A detailed outline is highly encouraged. Submissions with minimal information will be prioritized lower.
- Submission Limit: Up to 2 submissions per person.
- No Vendor Pitches: Product pitches are not allowed. Consider sponsorship for promotional opportunities.
- Code of Conduct: All speakers and presentations must adhere to the DevOpsDays Detroit Code of Conduct.
- Local Speakers: Priority will be given to speakers from the Metro Detroit area.
- Underrepresented Groups: Submissions from underrepresented groups in tech are strongly encouraged.
- Original Content: Preference is given to talks not previously presented at other venues, especially those available online.
- Direct Submissions: Do not submit talks on behalf of others.
- Presentation Outline: For presentations, include an outline in the notes section.
Content Ideas
Focus on Real-World Experiences: Share practical experiences, including successes and failures.
Potential Topics:
- Automation and process in the Detroit context.
- DevOps journey challenges and successes.
- Measuring the impact of DevOps.
- DevOps culture spreading within organizations.
- Unexpected problems and solutions in DevOps.
- Changes in required skill sets.
- Impact of DevOps on business, sales, and marketing.
- Personal experiences with DevOps.
- QA/Tester roles in DevOps.
- DevOps impact on security, auditing, and change control.
- DevOps impact on HR policies and hiring.
- DevOps scalability in enterprise environments.
- Data management in DevOps (DBAs, backups, etc.).
Examples of well received talks:
- "We had problem X; we did Y to address it, here’s how that turned out, both the good and the bad."
