Wrong Tool, Wrong Quest: What IT Teams Can Learn from RPGs

This session uses the world of RPGs as a practical framework for discussing how people and technology work together inside modern IT organizations.

The audience follows a team responsible for building and operating a cloud-based e-commerce platform. Along the journey, they face common engineering scenarios: production deployments, unstable third-party integrations, traffic spikes, scaling pressure, observability gaps, and business expectations after incidents.

Each stage of the quest shows how technical decisions directly influence human outcomes: ownership becomes clearer or more chaotic, collaboration becomes easier or harder, incidents become manageable or stressful, and teams either gain confidence or lose time fighting unnecessary complexity.

The talk explores team roles, shared responsibility and the impact of tooling choices on daily work. Using practical examples from DevOps and cloud environments, it turns familiar delivery problems into lessons that are easy to remember and apply through an role-playing narrative

Developing GitHub Actions at Scale: Architecting for QA and AI Agents

Internal GitHub Actions are often treated like “just scripts,” but at enterprise scale they become shared infrastructure, where even small regressions can break thousands of pipelines. In a polyrepo setup, the cost shows up quickly as implementation drift, repeated maintenance work, and inconsistent behavior between actions that should be identical. With bash-based implementations, automation becomes difficult to validate, and AI agents operate without a reliable safety net.

In this talk, we walk through a practical architecture that scales. We introduce a monorepo that consolidates actions, shared utilities, and documentation, and a transition from bash to TypeScript to enable systematic testing and higher-quality QA. We also present a deployment model where actions are built centrally but published to dedicated target repositories. Publishing to target repositories is what makes end-to-end testing real: tests run in an environment that mirrors the end-user experience, not the developer repository. We close by showing how a consolidated model creates shared context for AI agents across actions and makes it easier to reuse prompts, skills, and guardrails.

In this talk we will introduce V-Assist: Vinted's internal home-grown AI agent framework that enables the whole organization to use agents for arbitrary tasks. We'll start by going through how engineers use it to automate workflows such as code review, incident analysis, performance tuning and more. We'll then focus on what it takes to build such a framework with emphasis on collecting the right context and tools, making sure they don't go stale and keep self-improving.

So You Want to Replace a Platform: Lessons Learned from Inside the Trenches

At some point, every engineering organization faces it: a platform that made sense three years ago but doesn't anymore. Replacing it is never as clean as the evaluation spreadsheet suggested.

We'll use our own migration off Datadog onto Coralogix as a running example - but the talk is structured around the lessons that transfer anywhere: how to assess true migration scope, where organizational drag will slow you down, what "done" actually means when two platforms are running in parallel, and how to know when to pause, pivot, or push through.

If you're planning a platform migration - or quietly dreading one - this session gives you the map of the minefield before you step into it.

From DevOps to Platform Engineering: Shifting Mindset through Career Growth

Platform Engineering as a concept is becoming more popular and many DevOps Engineers may wonder why we need another term to describe what we already have? Many talks explain value of Platform engineering through high level concepts as developer experience, cognitive load and team boundaries. None of that really explains how that changes one’s approach when working with all that YAML.

Through her career path Linda has had both types of job titles. While starting out as newbie DevOps Engineer and now as a Senior Platform Engineer she will share real life examples how the every day work changed between each title. Let’s highlight the differences in technical design approaches and the evolution of mindset required to fully grown and thrive in leading a containerized platform team.

The Accidental Ops Engineer: How AI Closed the Gap Between Dev and Infrastructure

The project: AI Concierge on AWS / Bedrock / Python / React.
Backend team: 2 people + AI (Claude Code).
No dedicated DevOps. Platform team has no bandwidth for us.
CI/CD situation - let's just say it's complicated.
But the system is live in production. And we own it.

So we invented our own ops helper.
Over the past year, it has helped us with four things we had no formal training for:
- Incidents - a Jira-watching agent pairs with a CloudWatch collector, they analyze together, ask clarifying questions back through Jira, and prepare recommendations
- Statistics - regular pulls from S3, Athena, and CloudWatch; anomaly detection; trend analysis; report generation
- Monitoring - CloudWatch Dashboard updates and redeployment
- Data problems (Athena/Glue) - someone pushed a migration with an incompatible schema. Together with AI we investigated the cause, patched the structure, found a workaround, fixed and tested the code. Later - solved it properly.

Four real stories. Ordinary days of AI-Native development.

Reliability At Scale: The Compute Platform That’s Driving Vinted’s Success

Vinted’s platform scales dramatically, supporting more than 300,000 external requests per second to core service and executing over 5,000 deployments daily in all Kubernetes clusters.

This session dives into how Vinted successfully built and operates this infrastructure, which includes 20 bare metal K8s clusters spanning 2,500+ physical nodes and 310,000 CPU cores.

I'll share lessons learned across four core pillars:
1. Scalability: Operating bare metal K8s clusters at massive scale
2. Reliability: Implementing Istio multi-primary service mesh for traffic shaping, failover handling and sharing critical performance optimizations
3. Velocity: Accelerating CI/CD with a GitOps workflow (ArgoCD and Argo Rollouts) that features automated canary deployments and analysis
4. Productivity: Enhancing developer experience and self-service capabilities through a Backstage-based DevPortal

the linux kernel, networkmanager, glibc, openssl, etc are codebases that aren't going anywhere but can seem quite arcane and unapproachable.
this talk surveys the sense and nonsense of using contemporary tooling on these projects based on real world learnings.
we'll explore whether AI-assisted bug archaeology on mailing list archives is reliable, and whether you can use MCP servers as a translation layer between 1990s workflows and present day SDLC.
plus: why "rewrite it with AI" is almost always the wrong answer, and how to tell when it isn't.

Gradual Rollout is a Transaction

We at Wix do things at scale: literally thousands of services written in different programing languages must be deployed to production in the most cautious and generic way. Different gradual rollout methods (dc by dc, ab, abc,..) become a necessity. Since these rollouts might take some time, its execution must be durable, and if it fails a system state must be reset to the initial one. There are many off-the-shelf solutions for the problem, like Temporal or ArgoCD, but pretty much all of them only partially solve challenges we face. Thus we had to implement our own Saga-like durable execution engine with unique features. In this talk we will discuss what are these features and why you might need them in your rollout pipelines.
