SUMMARY:Wrong Tool\, Wrong Quest: What IT Teams Can Learn from RPGs - Grze

DESCRIPTION:Modern IT teams often resemble adventuring parties: people wit
h different strengths\, blind spots\, and priorities trying to complete di
fficult quests under pressure. Many delivery problems come from poor tool
selection\, weak role alignment\, and decisions that add complexity instea
 d of reducing it.\n\nIn this talk\, I use lessons from role-playing games
to explore how technology choices influence team performance\, delivery sp
eed\, and operational resilience. Why do some platforms become magical art
ifacts nobody understands? Why do organizations keep collecting new weapon
s while collaboration gets worse?\n\nUsing examples from DevOps and cloud
environments\, I will show how common failures emerge: overengineering\, t
 ool sprawl\, hidden dependencies\, hero culture\, and unclear ownership\,
then turn those lessons into practical guidance for building healthier tea
ms and simpler systems. A practical session on architecture\, DevOps cultu
re\, platform thinking\, and better decisions
