Gwendolyn James
I'm a local DevOps Engineer trying to apply best practices at all scales.
I've been in the industry since 2005, and moved to Colorado in 2009. I have worked at software startups in the Boulder area, such as Symplified and TapInfluence, and I've worked for very large corporations like Oracle and Workday. Right now I work for a hardware company that manufactures rocket engines.
I love thinking about the different problems I've seen at different scales of companies, I love building tools based on the ideas I've seen in the past, and I like implementing solutions that make the teams I support happier. I'm incredibly excited by the amount of opportunity this skillset provides for making change.
Session
What if the next frontier for DevOps isn’t tech companies, it’s manufacturing? When I joined an aerospace company, I found outdated tools, brittle processes, and a huge opportunity. This talk is about the simple DevOps practices I introduced in a company that didn’t know it needed them, and why manufacturing might be the best place for DevOps professionals to work today.
